THE FOURTH LTT IN TURKEY

3 participants from each partner institution took part in the 4th LTT activities of the project called High Five, which took place within the body of Akçansa Fatih Sultan Mehmet Secondary School on October 24-27, 2022.
The main purpose of these LTT activities was to share good practices that will improve computational thinking skills in inclusive students. In addition to the teachers, the workshops organized by the host school included inclusive students and special education classes (light and medium-heavy) students as local participants.
On the 1st day of LTT activities, a welcoming ceremony was prepared in cooperation with the music teacher of the host school and the physical education teacher Special Education Class. Special education students and inclusion students took part in the demonstrations at the welcoming ceremony. For these students, performing on an international platform has been an exciting, self-confident and different experience. After the welcoming ceremony, the participants visited the special education classes, got information about their education, and watched the show prepared by the students in their classes. Afterwards, all participants attended the rhythm workshop organized by music teacher Şule Canöz in her music class.
In the second half of the day, they presented the project local activities of the partner schools with examples of their previous LTT activities in their own schools.
“What is an algorithm?” to Day 2 of LTT activities. It started with the workshop. In addition to the participants, 6 inclusive students from the school participated in this workshop. After the concept of Algorithm was given with the drama method, the groups were worked with one inclusive student for each group. We focused on the transaction steps in our daily life.
The second workshop focused on the students' ability to receive and give commands. Gamified methods were used in this workshop. The robot named Doc and the game board were also used as an alternative method. After these two methods were integrated with the students, the workshop continued in the special education class to show that the Doc robot can also be used in the special education class.
In the second half of the day, 3D pens supporting spatial intelligence were used to improve 3D design skills. Special education class students accompanied the participants in this workshop.
The 3rd day of LTT Activities started with the “Sort the Numbers” workshop, which supports the development of computational thinking. Inclusion students participated in this activity by comparing and ordering the numbers, Special education students by comparing and ordering inflated balloons of different sizes, and the participants by alphabetizing their names.
The 2nd Workshop of the day was a workshop aimed at understanding the simple electrical circuit. In this workshop, the participants were grouped in such a way that there was at least one inclusive student in each group. Pre-prepared cardboard and images of Turkish landmarks were distributed to the groups and they were asked to make postcards. Then a 3V battery and a led were distributed by emphasizing the + - pole of the battery and the long short leg of the Led. It was asked to place it on their postcard, ensuring the correct connection of the battery and LED.
In the second half of the day, a simple robotic hand design workshop was held in order to make the students understand that robotic products on the market are produced by observing nature, animal and human actions/movements. The groups, including at least one inclusion student, designed robotic hands using cardboard, straws and threads.
The 4th day of LTT activities is reserved for a cultural tour. In order to introduce Turkish culture and history, a tour of the historical peninsula of Istanbul was organized with all the participants, accompanied by a guide.
